Walk A Mile A Day

Did you know a mile takes approximately 20 minutes to walk? It may not be as far as you think! It is around 2,000 steps. Why not challenge yourself to Walk A Mile A Day this month?

Plan when you are going to walk (before or after work? Or a lunchtime stroll?) and you’re more likely to stick to it. Why not challenge a friend to walk every day? You could walk together virtually or have a socially distanced walk. Or take your family out for a quick walk every day.

Download our calendar to mark your progress on and some motivational tips to support you in achieving that daily exercise habit.

If you would like any printed copies of the calendar or top tips, please email: goforlife@n-somerset.gov.uk.

We are passionate about encouraging inactive individuals to move a little more and for them to take small steps towards a realistic goal.

We would especially like to see those that have to shield during lockdown to take on this challenge as a way of getting back out on a regular basis.

We Are Undefeatable

We Are Undefeatable is a national Sport England campaign that encourages individuals with a long-term health condition to move more. Walking a Mile a Day can help where the level of exercise you can do is limited.

Active 10

The NHS Active 10 app  is also the perfect tool to keep you on track towards a regular exercise routine.
